Septic Tanks Backing Up

Charley and all the rain he brought is causing problems for septic tanks in Eastern Carolina.

Septic tank company employees are racing from one home to another, pumping and hauling raw sewage from underground tanks. Septic lines are having a difficult time handling the additional water in the ground, causing septic tanks to back up.

Experts suggest all homeowners with septic tanks have them pumped out every three to five years.
