Police Investigate Reported Attacks at Community Shelter

Video will be available shortly.

A resident from the Greenville Community Shelter is recovering from a beating he received Monday night. Shelter operations manager Lou Williamson says the man is the fifth shelter resident to be attacked in the last two weeks.

The shelter is located on Chestnut Street near Dickinson Avenue. Williamson believes a group of juveniles from the neighborhood is responsible for the attack. The attacks are said to be unprovoked. Williamson also said residents and staff at the shelter are concerned about safety.

The Greenville Police Department is investigating the matter.
