Basnight's Close To Re-opening

The last hotspots are extinguished at Marc Basnight's Lone Cedar Café.

Senator Marc Basnight is preparing to reopen his Lone Cedar Cafe at Nags Head, just four months after a fire destroyed his family's business.

Contractor Steve Daniels says it could have taken a year to rebuild such a building. But he says residents worked together to help the Basnight family.

The fire put more than 100 people out of work after the restaurant on the Nags Head-Manteo causeway burned. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Sandy Basnight, who had run the restaurant with her daughters, died about a month after the May 1st blaze.
