Return Of Students Means Big Bucks

As students return to ECU for classes the Greenville-Pitt County chamber of commerce says the booming business also returns.

Chamber officials say students spend an excess of 90 million dollars in Greenville during the school year. One local business sees as much as a 15 hundred percent increase in revenue when the calendar turns to August.

ECU officials say about 25,000 students are currently enrolled at the college in Greenville. This includes the largest freshmen class in school history.
