Two Fort Bragg Based Officers Assigned To New Africa Command

Two Special Operations officers at Fort Bragg have been assigned to duty with the new U.S. Africa Command.

The command is now based in Stuttgart, Germany. The Department of Defense plans to move it to an African country that hasn't yet been selected.

The new Africa Command is scheduled to begin operations in October. Major General Herbert Atlshuler has been named director of plans and programs.

He's been assistant to the commander of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg.

Colonel Patrick Higgins has been named to the U.S. Special Operations Command Africa. Higgins has been director of the Joint Interagency Task Force at the Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg.
