14-Month-Old Baby Dies, Father Is Charged

A 17-year-old from Goldsboro has been charged with the murder of his son. Wayne County lawmen arrested Donald Elbert Purnell after his 14-month-old baby died Friday. The preliminary autopsy report shows Malachi Edmundson died from trauma injuries to his stomach. Lawmen say the baby had been staying with Purnell and his mother. The baby's 17-year-old mother lives somewhere else in Goldsboro.
