Arrest Made In Pitt County Murder

An arrest has been made in Monday's murder of a Falkland man.

Deputies made the arrest around midnight in Farmville.

Charged with murder is Lenwood Pettaway. Deputies say he confessed to Monday's killing of 62 year old Willie Bazemore.

Bazemore was found dead at his home on Highway 43 north in Falkland yesterday.

The sheriff's office says it appears a dispute over an unpaid debt preceded the murder. Deputies say the 20 year old Pettaway struck Bazemore with a brick.

It marks the second murder this month in the western part of Pitt County.

A little more than two weeks ago, 82 year old Timothy Langley was found dead outside his Farmville home. He was also beaten to death. There have been no arrests in Langley's murder.
