Tropical Storm Charley Roughs Up Waters On Pamlico River

Down on the Washington waterfront Saturday, some standing pools of water form as the height of the storm passed through Beaufort County. Tropical Storm Charley caused small white caps to form on the Pamlico River pushing up the water level. While it threatened to pour into downtown Washington, water levels never rose high enough to cause any significant flooding. Boats anchored in the river were tossed around by the strong gusts of wind and forced into each other and into a wooden pier.
