Hurricane Floyd Still Leaves Mark

It's been seven years since Hurricane Floyd struck Eastern Carolina. The storm and the flooding that followed took lives and destroyed communities in 1999.

Some areas of Kinston in Lenoir County were never restored. Many residents were forced to evacuate and relocate.

Lenoir County Emergency Services personnel says residents should never wait until the last minute to evacuate. They say its safer to have a plan and evacuate as soon as possible.
