Teen Charged With Setting Northwoods Fires

A teenager is charged with starting several fires in the Northwoods area of Jacksonville this summer.

16 year old Brian Phillips, who lives on Dewitt Street in the Northwoods neighborhood, was arrested today. He is charged with three counts of burning personal property and was locked up on a $215,000 bond.

There were several fires in Northwoods in June. Police tell us Phillips is the suspect for a house fire and car fires on Christine Drive. He is not charged in a boat fire on Shadewood.

Police say even though there has been an arrest, the investigation into the Northwoods fires is still open, and continues.
