Wayne County deputies recovered $41,000 in stolen goods, but the person they believe stole it all got away.
A sheriff's deputy chased a pickup truck with a double tandem trailer on Highway 13 South in Southern Wayne County around 2:15 a.m. Thursday.
Lawmen say the pickup truck driver eventually got out of his car and escaped by running away. The deputy discovered the pickup truck was stolen from Pender County, the trailer stolen from Pitt County and a tractor on the trailer was stolen from Wayne County.
