Roanoke Rapids Won't Turn Over Parton Financials

Roanoke Rapids officials say they won't release financial data to the media about The Randy Parton Theatre.

Roanoke Rapids is trying to replace lost manufacturing jobs. The city borrowed 21 million dollars to build and maintain the theater for the brother of country superstar Dolly Parton.

The Raleigh News & Observer and the Carolina Journal asked the city to turn over quarterly financial reports from the business. The city's lawyer says the information is confidential.

A lawyer for The News & Observer says there may be serious questions about the city's oversight of the project.
