School Board Looks for Architect and Land

The Beaufort County School Board is in the process of interviewing six architectural firms and scouting out new land in order to construct two new schools, P.S. Jones and John Small.

School officials say they're seeking land as close to the Washington area as possible. They say they're looking for land that's 45 to 50 acres and has the necessary utilities, like sewer and water, or is in close proximity to them.

Officials say the purchase of this property is part of the $33 million bond referendum approved in the July primary.

The board expects to have a firm chosen by its next meeting on August 23.
