Deployed Marines took a pause during their duties at Camp Leatherneck to honor the anniversary of September 11th.
In video and photos captured by fellow Marines, military members are seen saluting a flag raised high above the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.
The Marine Corps says there are roughly 7,000 military members at Camp Leatherneck, some 4,000 of those are Marines and sailors from Eastern Carolina.
Service members along with southwest Regional Command participated in the event, including a performance of the national anthem by a fellow military member.
