Severe storms swept through the East yesterday leaving extreme damage in Goldsboro in Wayne County.
Law enforcement official report extensive damage with trees and power lines down. They say the roof was damaged on the Holiday Inn Express on Highway 70 near Spence Road and across the city and the roof was blown off of a Days Inn Motel.
We talked with officials at Progress Energy who say at the height of the storm there were more than eighty six hundred customers without power. They have all but eighteen hundred of those folks back on line by Saturday morning and say they will be working throughout the morning to get full service restored to everyone.
