Heat Wave Prompts Record Energy Use

The heat wave continues today, and utility companies say they could again break power usage records. North Carolina Electric Cooperatives used a record 2,967 megawatt hours around 6 p.m. Wednesday. The previous record was 2,869. A couple other utilities came close to breaking records. The heat wave is expected to continue through Friday.
