Pitt County Farm Family Honored

A big honor Tuesday for a Pitt County farmer and his family.

Davenport farms of Pactolus was honored for their outstanding accomplishments as a farm family like continuing to update conservation on their farm.

Conservation practices on the Davenport Farm include no-till, irrigation water management, enhanced wildlife habitat, nutrient and pest management, buffers to protect the Tar River, wetland wildlife management, field borders, filter strips, waterways, and selective timber thinning.

Festivities included an awards ceremony, a video presentation, lunch, and a farm tour.
