Hot Day Working Outside

While some people may have the luxury to work in air conditioning, many others, like tobacco farmers, don't.

Beaufort County farmer Andrew Arnold and his workers were out in the fields early Tuesday morning trying to get some much needed work done before the heat got too intense. Arnold says on an average summer day, it can feel like 110 degrees in the shade.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Arnold and his workers called it day and stopped their work in the tobacco fields. Arnold says it could get too dangerous working long hours under the sun.
