The director of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission says he was asked to resign. Richard Hamilton had been with the Wildlife Resource Commission for 37 years and had been director since September 2004.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Hamilton says commission members told him they had lost confidence in his ability to manage the staff and the programs. Hamilton says he then tendered his resignation.
Chief Deputy Director Fred Harris has been named interim
executive director. The commission's chairman, Wes Seegars of Goldsboro, hasn't returned a phone call seeking comment.
