N.C. Native Is Sailor In Famous Wartime Photo

Glenn McDuffie has claimed for years that he was the sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square in Life magazine's iconic photograph of the day World War II ended.

Houston Police forensic artist Lois Gibson did an extensive review and determined McDuffie -- a A North Carolina native who's now 80 -- is the man in the photo.

Gibson had McDuffie pose for new photos in his sailor uniform -- recreating the famous pose with a pillow instead of a nurse. She measured his ears, facial bones, hairline, wrist, knuckles and hand and compared those to enlargements of the picture.

Gibson also compared some of the other men who'd claimed to be the guy in the photo. She eliminated them based on their facial
bones.
