National Guard Chopper Sets Down Near Farmers Market

A North Carolina National Guard attack helicopter made an unscheduled landing near the State Farmers Market Saturday afternoon after a warning light came on in the cockpit.

The Apache helicopter with two pilots aboard had just left Raleigh-Durham International Airport when it landed in a large field on the Dorothea Dix Hospital campus about 200 yards from the market.

No one was injured.

The helicopter was to remain in the field until a maintenance worker checks on the cause of the warning light and makes repairs if necessary.
