One city in Eastern Carolina is experiencing water woes.
Rocky Mount closed the boat ramp on Bend of the River Road because there's nothing but mud due to the lack of rain.
The city has only received twelve to fifteen inches of rain for the year, ten inches below normal.
High and dry boat ramps aren't the only sign of drought conditions in the city. The main water dam is also bone dry.
Paul Blount, water resources director, thinks the city will be under mandatory restrictions next week.
Blount says the last time they were under mandatory water restrictions was back in 2002.
