Merchants Hoping To Be Busy On Sales Tax Holiday

Merchants are preparing for a busy weekend on the North Carolina sales tax holiday.

The Legislature created the tax holiday in 2001 to help families buying school supplies, but anyone can take advantage of the break.

Hendersonville merchant Marlene Warren says people arrive at the
sporting goods store where she works with lists of what they need
and usually save a lot of money.

The holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and runs until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
