Retro Films, $5 Tickets, A Hit At Charlotte Theater

Film is in, DVDs are out at the Ballantyne Village Theatre in Charlotte. Classics such as "Casablanca" and "A Clockwork Orange" are among the featured movies of the Retro Movie Series on weekends.

Theatre manager Leon Putman says the goal is to expose the public to 35 millimeter film versions on the big screen.

He says the most popular showings so far have been "Casablanca" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

Mark Callahan remembers the feeling he got watching "2001: A Space Odyssey" in a theater decades ago. Now 55, Callahan says the Metro Movie Series brings him back to "the magic of that big screen."
