The National Weather Service says it was a weak tornado that caused the damage Wednesday night in the Old Ford area of Beaufort County.
Emergency management officials say about thirty structures were damaged, trees were uprooted and the power was knocked out. Luckily, no one lived in 16 of those structures and people weren't home in many of the other locations when the storm hit.
Residents who live or have property in the area arrived Thursday morning, and were amazed by the amount of damage to their property. Many residents say they're counting their blessings.
According the emergency management, no one was hurt during the storm.
