Wacky Weather Impacts Tourism

Mother nature has been causing trouble for the Olympic Games in Vancouver this year forecasters say it's been one of the warmest winters British Columbia has ever seen.

Which means crews have been working around the clock trying to make up for the lack of snow.

Yes, it's a problem for down hill skiers but ECU tourism professor Dr. David Edgell tells WITN it's a bigger problem for the area's tourism industry as a whole.

Vacation destinations like Vancouver and here in Eastern Carolina rely a lot on the weather.

Dr. Engell says no snow in Vancouver means no skiers.

While no sun in Eastern Carolina means fewer people at the beach and fewer jobs to manage the local tourism industry.
