A New Bern man has been charged with promoting dog fights after authorities say they found 17 adult pit bulls and 14 puppies on property in Pamlico County.
Corey Jordan of New Bern is facing 65 different charges, including promoting dog fights and possessing fighting dogs.
Authorities say they found dogs on the property in heavy chains, would treatment solutions and other dog fighting paraphernalia.
Deputies say they received complaints about conditions of dogs on the property. Plus they say there have been unexplained dog carcasses being found in unusual areas of Pamlico County.
Most of the adult dogs found had scars on their bodies, police say that are consistent with dog fighting wounds.
