Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division will be taking over convoy security missions in Iraq now that another Army unit is heading home.
Soldiers from the First Brigade Combat Team deployed in June for Iraq and will take over the security missions from the 34th Infantry Division. Until they leave soldiers from the 34th are patrolling with the
Fort Bragg-based paratroopers to show them tactics and procedures
along roads in southern Iraq.
Leaders say the paratroopers have spent a lot of time training on roadside bombs and how to reduce deaths and injuries and find them.
