Heavy rain may have been a factor in the death of a 74 year-old man who's truck crossed the center line and struck another vehicle Friday.

It happened around 7p.m. on NC-33 about 3.7 miles east of Chocowinity according to Highway Patrol.

Sgt. Tim Crumpler says Cecil Brinson of Grimesland was driving a 1971 Toyota pick-up when he veered across the center line and struck 43 year-old Shauna Moody head on.

Crumpler says it was raining at the time and weather may have played a factor in the crash.

Moody and another passenger were taken to Beaufort County Medical Center and their condition is not known at this time.

Crumpler says no charges will be filed against Moody.

To Me and Alice; don't judge a person because of age or the age of the vehicle. There are more young(er) drivers killed than older. Age is a number not necessarily dictating the ability of the person. Let us hope that you reach the age of this gentleman!

This is to Me and Alice....how can you guys be so heartless? What if this had been your family member? Would you want to read just such as that? I know many 70 yr olds and above that are just as active and healthy as they were when they were in their 60s. Are you familiar with the area where the wreck happened? I am and drive it almost every day. That is a sharp curve on a stretch of 33 in the middle of a sunny day let alone on a dark rainy night. I'm glad the other people are ok. I was there when the truck was picked up. I recently lost a member of my family to a traffic accident. My heart goes out to his family. Please, let all of us think about how we would feel reading some of the stuff that's posted before we type hurtful things. It could have just as easily been a member of your family on a different road under similar circumstances.

He may have had a medical emergency that caused him to veer into oncoming traffic. Thankfully the other people made it!
