There were multiple accidents across Eastern Carolina Saturday evening because of the icy roads.

Many roads in Eastern Carolina remain dangerouly slick Sunday.

Bridges and overpasses are some of the biggest problems.

Saturday night, there was an accident on the Highway 17 bridge in Beaufort County between Washington and Chocowinity involving two vehicles. At the same time, there was a two-vehicle accident not far from there on the overpass near Whichard's Beach road.

Emergency officials stress not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary.

I am surprised to see that the DOT didn't plow any of the roads that I had to drive on. Firetower and Arlington are some high traffic roads. I don't understand why they weren't plowed when it was just slushy snow. It would have been a lot easier to clean up before it froze overnight. We need to be proactive. I give the DOT an "F" on this. There should have been snow plows standing by. I know this is Eastern NC. But we do get snow periodically.

Make the parking lots safe. They still have to get to the building.Wise up.
