Rocky Mount needs rain. The city has declared a water shortage condition.
City officials say, the water level in the Tar River reservoir has fallen twelve inches below the top of the dam gates in the last two weeks. The U-S drought monitor puts the Rocky Mount area in the abnormally dry category.
That's why Rocky Mount officials are asking their residents to conserve water. The voluntary water conservation notice requests people to use less water.
