Nature Conservancy Sells Land To N.C. Government

The Nature Conservancy has sold more than 30-thousand acres of land to two state agencies.

The conservancy said today that most of the land, 28-thousand-802 acres was sold to the state Wildlife Resources Commission.

That land is located in Halifax, Hertford, Northampton, Bertie, Warren, Franklin and Nash counties. It will be added to the state's Game Lands program.

The remaining 15-hundred-and-seven acres was sold to the Division of Parks and Recreation and will be added to Medoc Mountain State Park.

Funding for the sale came from the state's Clean Water Management Trust Fund and Natural Heritage Trust Fund and the Wildlife Resources Commission.
