Friends and family members are mourning the death of a high school student.
Authorities say 16-year-old Raven Kennedy of Chinquapin was killed this weekend in an ATV accident in Duplin County.
They say she was on her ATV when it overturned Sunday. Kennedy was not wearing a helmet, according to the Jacksonville Daily News. State law requires people to wear helmets and eye protection when riding ATVs.
Kennedy was a student at East Duplin High School. Princial Scott Ballard tells WITN that a memorial service for Kennedy will be held at the high school on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
