The furniture industry has an eight billion dollar economic impact each year in the four-county region around High Point.
That's according to a new study conducted by researchers at High Point University. City officials plan to use study to attract more business to the area.
The analysis says the industry also was responsible for more than 65-thousand jobs when considering manufacturing output, retail sales and supporting industries.
The study was commissioned by city leaders and quantified the furniture industry's impact on the state's Triad region of Guilford, Forsyth, Randolph and Davidson counties.
High Point hosts the biannual High Point Market, which bills itself as the largest wholesale home furnishings event in the world. The show attracted 85-thousand people in October.
