Chemical response teams have spent most of Thursday trying to contain a sulfuric acid leak in Raleigh.
Our sister station, WNCN in Raleigh reports the leak was reported about 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mallickrodt Chemical facility on Capital Boulevard. At least one day care near the facility on Durant Road is closing early and parents are being allowed to pick up children at the center.
WNCN says emergency workers were monitoring the weather because rain could have a reaction with the acid.
