Fireworks Danger

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports over six thousand injuries during the one month period surrounding the July 4th holiday. The CPSC also reports forty nine fireworks related deaths between 2000 and 2006. North Carolina has what's called a "safe and sane" law when it comes to fireworks. Fire officials caution the dry weather adds significantly to the danger of fireworks use. On average there are about seven firework-related deaths each year. The CPSC reports eleven deaths associated with fireworks in 2006.
