Pitt County deputies have ruled Monday's double shooting in Simpson a murder-suicide.
It was a horrifying scene as a five-year-old boy discovered his parents shot dead in their Pitt County living room.
They say 29-year-old Tammy Duvall and her husband, 33-year-old Marshall Duvall, were found by their five-year old son, around 4:30 Monday afternoon inside their home on Winding Lane.
Detectives now say Marshall Duvall first shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.
Police say Tammy was dead upon arrival, shot once in the arm and in the head. They say Marshall was found shot twice in the head and later died at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Chief Lee Moore with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office says there was no prior reports of domestic violence from the couple. One family member tells WITN he only became aware of a domestic problem on Sunday, the day before the shooting.
