Race Car Driver Faces Charges

A race car driver is facing charges for driving his car into a crowd and hitting a Sheriffs Deputy.

It happened at the Southern National Raceway Park in Wilson County.
Driver, Timothy Stephen Rhodes II of Raleigh was charged Saturday night with assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

Officers say he sped his car through a crowd and hit a Sheriffs Deputy. A fight had broken out between rival pit crews.
