Today, two new childcare facilities opened aboard Camp Lejeune, making room for seventy four of the over eleven thousand military children. But more space is needed. Over twelve thousand families alone right now are on a waiting list for base childcare. Most families on average wait between eight months to a year to get into the facilities. Which is why, the two new centers hopefully will be the start of more to come. The two new facilities were in part made possible by a fifty thousand dollar donation for the playground equipment from the Ryder family. It's a gift in memory of their son Lance Corporal Nolan Rider, and his friends Lance Corporal Jess Wisnewski, who died in 2002 in a car accident.
