Dr. Phipps Sworn In As New Beaufort County Superintendent

For the first time in more then a year---the Beaufort County School System has a new and permanent superintendent.

Dr. Don Phipps was sworn in Monday as Beaufort County's newest superintendent. Dr. Phipps comes to eastern Carolina from the Cumberland County school system in Fayetteville where he held an administrative position.

Phipps says, "I'm very excited, excited about the community, about the tasks that lie ahead, excited about showcasing my skills and talents so that they can help the people and the students of Beaufort County."

Dr. Phipps has also been a school psychologist, university professor, as well as a school principal.

According to the school board---for the next six months Dr. Phipps will look, listen, and ask questions and then come to the board with ideas.

Dr. Phipps told us he wants to bring the school system together and retain teachers.
