Wednesday, firefighters at station one in downtown Greenville and throughout the city wore black bands on their badges. The flag at city office buildings also flew at half staff. Local city leaders say this is one way to recognize and remember the sacrifice of the nine men who lost their lives Monday night at a furniture store fire in Charleston, South Carolina. It's this type of tragedy that also has rescue crews reflecting on their own safety. Since the funeral arrangements are not finalized, Lieutenant McMahon says the department hasn't decided if any firefighters from this area will travel to South Carolina.
