Federal investigators are expected in Beaufort County Tuesday to begin to look into what caused a small plane to crash in Washington on Sunday.
It happened in a wheat field not far from the Washington airport. The two Beaufort County men on board were airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital and are listed in serious condition.
Jean Coleman says she heard the 1947 single engine Stinson plane slam into her field, which is only 100 yards from her home. Thankfully, she says she wasn't nearby at the time.
