A Durham County Superior Court judge has decided to immediately suspend District Attorney Mike Nifong from office.
Nifong had announced he would resign after July 13th, but Judge
Orlando Hudson says that's not soon enough.
As a part of the suspension, Hudson says he'll order the Durham
County sheriff to prevent Nifong from carrying out any duties of
Governor Easley also said Monday that Nifong should leave office sooner, rather than waiting a month.
Nifong, who oversaw indictments against three Duke lacrosse
players, was disbarred on Saturday for his handling of the case.
