Sobriety Check-Point Cracks Down On Drunk Driving

Several area law enforcement agencies were involved in a sobriety check point overnight.

The checkpoint took place on Charles Boulevard near the ECU athletics complexes from 10pm Friday until 3am Saturday. Officials say more than 30 officers stopped drivers to check for signs of being under the influence, as well as any other moving violations.

This was the first sobriety checkpoint sponsored by the East Carolina University Police Department. There was a magistrate on-site to speed along processing.
