Over 1, 800 clergy members and laypersons of the United Methodist Church gathered in Greenville this week as part of the annual North Carolina Conference of United Methodists.
The conference consists of members from over 800 churches spreading from Burlington to the beach. The conference began on Wednesday and runs through Saturday at the Greenville convention center.
On the agenda: lectures on building healthy congregations, and the ordination of new clergy. Attendees will also focus on passing church resolutions forming official positions such political issues as global warming and the war in Iraq.
