A fisherman from Raleigh has set a new state record after catching a 40-pound blackfin tuna.
State officials with the Division of Marine Fisheries announced
the new record Friday.
They say Steven Lockwood's fish caught off Oregon Inlet was 41
inches long and had a girth of 28 inches.
The previous record was 39 pounds, set in 2002.
Officials say Lockwood caught the fish April 14th off a charter
boat based out of the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center.
