Former President George Bush is expressing condolences on the death of the wife of evangelist Billy Graham. Ruth Graham died yesterday in North Carolina at the age of 87.
In a statement issued in Kennebunkport, Bush said he and his wife Barbara feel they've lost a special friend. Bush says Ruth Graham was "a wonderful, kind and wise woman who brightened all our lives" and the time spent with her will never be forgotten.
Graham died at her home, surrounded by her husband and all five
children. She'd been bedridden for months with degenerative arthritis of the back and neck and underwent treatment for pneumonia two weeks ago.
