A body found in a state park last Thursday has been identified as a man from Greenville.
The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office has identified the body as 26-year-old Joshua Bryant Hines of Greenville. The remains were found last Thursday in a wooded area in Carolina Beach State Park in New Hanover County, just beyond designated camp sites.
A preliminary investigation found no signs of trauma but the cause of death remains unknown. The sheriff's office has not ruled out foul play at this time. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 22 at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
According to his obituary, Hines was a 2001 graduate of J.H. Rose High School and had worked for Hatteras Yachts. He was a member of Core Creek FWB Church in Cove City.

This death has affected more than just his biological family. least we forget his step-dad, and his step-brother and the extended family that came with it.this was a young man who loved the beach, loved to fish, among other things.he had his life snatched and his body left lying in the woods like a pile of trash. if there is one person out there that knows something, i hope you realize that you will answer to your maker. you may not believe it God, and i really don't care, but Karma is what it is. I was at the funeral home and it made me angry to see the pigs standing around with their equipment. feeding off of family members sorrows. I guess what they say is true, no one wants to read, or watch the news, unless it's tragic, painful, or distasteful. Reminds me of a bunch of starving vultures. the answers will come regardless, time will heal but right now, some of us are suffering, so stop feeding, will you?
I graduated with Josh, and I am so sorry for your loss. He will always be remembered.
The Hines Family deserves the upmost respect which means time to grieve alone without being questioned and interviewed nonstop. Everyone is curious and anyone who knew Josh and cared for him wants to have an answer naturally, but there is a time and place for everything so give them space and sooner or later we will know the answers to the many questions we have. Its uncalled for to continue attacking the family and all it does is delay the healing process. Let them be during this tragic and traumatizing time.
