A 76-year-old woman has died in a house fire in Charlotte despite efforts by her son to get help.
A fire spokesman says that Catherine Poage Taylor's body was found early today in a bedroom of the northeast Charlotte home. The fire started soon after midnight and the woman's son went door to door asking neighbors to call for help.
Fire Captain Rob Brisley says trucks were at the scene within five minutes of being called by neighbors but by then half of the house was in flames.
The damage to the house was estimated at 100-thousand dollars and investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire.
