Duke University says its freshman class this fall will be slightly larger than expected because more students accepted admission offers.
Duke received acceptances for the Class of 2011 from about 42 percent of the applicants given offers. Officials say last year less than 41 percent accepted offers to Duke.
Duke received 19-thousand-206 applications for the freshman class.
The number was the second highest in its history.
The school also says the class is more diverse with 500 Asian students, 105 Hispanic students and 156 black students.
